Caleb MichalkeCo-owner/Founder/Head Maltster/QA/SalesAfter becoming an avid home brewer Caleb decided back in 2013 that he wanted to do something in the brewing industry. After much research he fell in love with malting and decided to start a malt house with the help of his wife and parents on his parents farm. Caleb is always trying to push the malt house and malt into the future. If you meet him just bring up malt and he will talk your ear off.

Whitney Galvin-MICHALKECo-owner/Event Planner/Head of Art/marketing/Merchandise.Whitney helped Caleb come up with the original plans for Sugar Creek Malt. In the early years she would come home from teaching a full day and help Caleb in the malt house late into the night. She also was the one who inspired and drew the artwork for our logo. When not teaching in Indianapolis or playing with her 2 kids she is helping the malt house with upcoming events, new logo designs, and new merchandise.

Jim MICHALKECo-owner/Head FArmer/Head miller/AccountingJim is in charge of all the grain farming on the farm from rye and barley to heirloom varieties of corn. In 2020 we also built a whole new grain cleaning and milling facility on his farm which is where we now do all of the pre-cleaning of grain and milling of distiller's grain. When he is done with all of that he somehow finds the time to do the accounting for the malt house. Sugar Creek Malt could not function without Jim and his countless hours of work.

ChandlerMaltster/Head smokerChandler started working with Sugar Creek way back in 2018. He has done it all in the malt house and is always there to help when needed. Chandler takes part in all of the base malt production as well as smoking almost all of the cold smoked malts. He also does most of the malt deliveries. Chandler has become part of the family over these years and we are so happy to have him on our team.

ZachMaltster/Head RoasterZach has been with Sugar Creek Malt since early 2020. He started in a very strange time here at the malt house right as Covid swept through, but he rolled with constant changes and has become an incredible asset to the malt house. He has his hands on almost every batch of base malt we create and makes 99% of the crystal/roasted malts.
