LAME DUCK: Pre-Prohibition Lager
LAME DUCK: Pre-Prohibition Lager.
Jump in the hot tub, we're going back. Way back.
When the first lagers were being made state side, brewers couldn't get European two-row barley. They would use adjuncts such as corn to lighten up the "harsher" flavors of six-row barley of its day.
Lame Duck is a modern take on this classic and under represented style. Consisting of six-row barley and malted Bloody Butcher corn. Hopped Magnum and Crystal hops from Crazy Horse Hops, located an hours drive from the malt house. The higher kiln on the six-row (5-7SRM) and malted Bloody Butcher make for a full flavored yet crisp lager.
